For dinner this is the most traditional (British) meal . For this dinner the sausages, portray a phallic symbol of a penis, already due to their shape​.

Bangers and Mash also is connected to several slang/ rhyming slang terms such as slash (urinating), cash and trash - the term itself, and the slang connected holds a heavily loaded masculine attributes and connotations - this is juxtaposed by the stereotypical use of glitter which holds female attributes, the addition of the dinner - 'sprinkled on the food' suggests that a women has made the dish. This creates the suggestion that women have to fit in and are obliged to live in a male structured system.
